Prenatal Class
What is Prenatal class all about?
  • To prepare you and your spouse for the journey of labour, birth and early parenthood.

I think it will be helpful for me and hubby to atttend for at least ONE prenatal class to prepare ourselves to welcome our "new member" into our family. I believe the class will help us to focus on the forthcoming labour and birth.

I did some sources and find that most of the contents teach will be similar:

  • Process of labour and childbirth
  • Preparations for labour and childbirth
  • Different birth positions
  • Pain relief choices
  • Massage skills and breathing techniques
  • Life after the birth and in early parenthood
Most important is to prepare us with the necessary skills and confidence needed to make birth a positive and memorable experience.

Week 16 - 4th Month
16 Nov 2010

I'm 16 Weeks today!!!

My tummy is expanding!!!
Sideway and in front.....

Sob Sob....
My shorts and jeans are getting smaller...
T-shirt are getting shorter....
Very soon, I need to do some shopping le.

Though I'm 4th months le but my tummy still not very obvious cause when I take MRT and bus, no one offer their seat to me yet.
Hahaha....

16 Weeks Pregnant

Little darling now should be around 9cm long starting to practise breathing movements. At this stage, your baby’s heart starts to pump and baby's eyesight (and eyelashes!) is developing rapidly at this stage as well.

The bones are also now in place in his ears meaning that he can probably hear your voice as you talk to your partner or friends. While he’s getting used to your voice, the tiny muscles in his body, especially the ones in his back, are gaining strength, so he can straighten out a little more. And thanks to his developing facial muscles, your baby is capable of making a few expressive frowns and squints, even at this early stage. And his eyes are finally working, making small side-to-side movements and perceiving light.

Oh Oh....
My little darling have progressed so much...
Jia you wo....
Mummy and daddy waiting to confirm your gender again in the next check up, remember to be good ok so that we can start prepare for your arrival.

There are so many types of myths to determine the gender but I dont really believe leh...
  • A fetal heart rate of fewer than 140 beats per minute means you're having a boy, while a heart rate of more than 140 beats per minute means you're having a girl.
Haha... my darling heartbeat is less than 140bpm so is he a boy?? I will know it 2 weeks later when I go for my scan again.

Week 16 Pregnancy Symptoms
Continued breast growth: Don’t worry — after giving birth and weaning (if you choose to breastfeed) your boobs should return to about their prepregnancy size.

Constipation: Besides those pregnancy hormones causing your gastrointestinal tract to get sluggish, your expanding uterus is now putting pressure on your bowels, which can back things up significantly. Try increasing the amount of liquid you drink to keep everything moving along.

Increased vaginal discharge: Though vaginal discharge is actually beneficial to your body (it protects the birth canal from infection), it may not feel comfortable. Don’t be tempted to try douches or feminine wipes, however, since they can irritate the genital tract and lead to infection.

Varicose veins: One way to minimize the swollen blood vessels in your legs? Keep your weight gain healthy and gradual (and stick within the recommended range) because extra weight increases the load on your circulatory system.

Possible nasal congestion: Pregnancy hormones cause the mucous membranes in the body to swell, including those in your nose. If this leads to nasal congestion, irritation, and even nosebleeds, saline nasal sprays and nasal strips can offer some relief.

Backaches: As your belly gets bigger, your lower back curves more than usual to accommodate the load, resulting in strained back muscles. Try to soothe these sore muscles by getting a prenatal massage (even from your partner) or taking a warm bath or shower.

Bleeding gums: Have you noticed that your gums are bleeding after brushing? That’s because pregnancy hormones are causing gum inflammation, making them more susceptible to bacteria, irritation, and bleeding. While this is normal, it’s important to keep flossing and brushing regularly. Also see the dentist at least once during pregnancy to avoid gum disease, which can cause pregnancy complications if untreated.

I'm expanding sideway and in front....
I'm getting excited as I'm entering into Week 16, 4th Months, of my pregnancy journey. Time seem to flies so fast without me noticing it.
Suddenly think back, it was just like yesterday when I started my IVF journey. Every moments of those days still so vivid flashing in my memory. Those were the days of injecting and going in and out of Raffles Hospital for check up and blood test. I hate going there at that time but now I wish and hope to go RH more often so that I can see my little darling.

While I'm entering into Weeks 16, I think it's time I start to source for prenatal class, hospital tour, massage, confinement catering or even confinement nanny. I'm not sure whether I will need all of them but at least I have some infos on hand.
I think I'm very greedy, everything also want...

Everything also want = Everthing also need money

Grghhh.......

Phew.....
Yesterday, when I wear my dress I noticed it's so tight for me!!!
That dress used to be loose at the waistline but now it's so tight.
OMG...
One thing good is that I know my little darling is growing well inside me now.
Sad is that I'm getting fatter and fatter!!!
Really cant imagine how I will look like when I'm FAT.

Super round face!!!

Big tummy!!

Faint....
The fattest I used to be is during my poly days, the max weight I hit is 50kg.
Now I think I got 46kg le.

I'm in Week 15 now!!!

Tummy is getting bigger especially at night my tummy can be real big.

Phew....
Nose also been very naughty recently, ah choooo........
Gosh....

I have also started taking bird nest... Planning to take a bottle every weekend till I deliver, hopefully little darling complexion will be very fair and smooth.

15 Weeks Pregnant
You might not yet be feeling it, but your baby is kicking those little legs and flexing those elbows, while — higher up — you may be coping with some dental weirdness.

As you both continue to grow, your baby now measures about 12cm. Bones are beginning to harden and fine downy hair called lanugo is starting to appear on their skin (which is still very thin and transparent).

Your baby now has tastebuds and is starting to make different facial expressions as facial muscles develop and eyebrows form – all of which makes them look more baby-like. Your baby is busy inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid which helps their lungs develop. Their legs are growing longer than their arms and, in anticipation for all those kicks later in your pregnancy, your baby can move all of their joints! Her ears have migrated to the sides of her head, and her eyes are moving to the front of her face. Plus, your little smarty-pants can now wiggle her fingers and toes and make breathing movements in preparation for life outside the womb.

your baby weighs so little (a bit over two ounces), you won't feel the calisthenics going on inside your abdominal gym. But don't let that fool you. Your fetus is holding daily aerobics classes — kicking, curling toes, and moving those little arms and legs.

Mostly, your fetus is in rehearsals — practice, practice, practicing, and getting ready for that big debut. Babies practice breathing, sucking, and swallowing so that when they leave your comfy womb and move into your comfy house, they'll have the skills necessary to survive.

And with each passing week, your fetus is looking more and more like the baby you're picturing in your dreams. By now, the ears are positioned properly on the sides of the head (they used to be in the neck) and the eyes are moving from the side of the head to the front of the face — where they'll soon meet your loving gaze.
Mummy's progress
Pregnancy hormones are pretty rough on your body, especially the teeth and gums, causing inflammation and making them more susceptible to plaque and bacteria. Your formerly healthy gums may have become super-sensitive and prone to bleeding. In addition, you might be coping with a chronic stuffy nose or even nosebleeds during pregnancy, also brought on by progesterone surging through your system. Fear not — it'll all pass. Weight Gain

Whether you were barely able to gain an ounce during the first trimester (thanks to all that toilet hugging) or you gained more ounces — and pounds — than you care to admit (courtesy of all those comforting carbs your queasy self was overloading on), it's weight-gain time now. Starting in the second trimester, your baby's getting bigger and bigger — and consequently, you should be too. Make slow and steady your motto and aim for a weekly weight gain of about one pound. But keep in mind that's an average — which means that it's perfectly fine to gain half a pound one week, and a pound and a half the next, as long as you're netting about four pounds a month. If you're weighing in at home, once a week (or once every other week) is plenty; just make sure you do it consistently — at about the same time and under about the same conditions (undressed, right after getting up, for instance). Or leave the weigh-ins to your practitioner at your monthly visits.

Pregnancy Symptoms

Heartburn or indigestion: Now that you’re hungrier, you may find that eating large amounts of food in one sitting can lead to heartburn or indigestion. Guard against gastrointestinal discomfort by eating several small meals throughout the day (rather than three large ones) so as not to overload your digestive system.

Flatulence: The hormones relaxin and progesterone are relaxing the muscles in your body (including those in your gastrointestinal tract), causing gassiness. Avoid gas-inducing foods such as broccoli, cabbage, beans, and fried foods.

Bloating: The hormones that are causing your gastrointestinal system to relax and produce gas can also lead to bloating. A solution you’ll enjoy: Take time out to relax and get pampered (massage, pedicure, you name it) because tension can also cause you to swallow air, both during meals and during the day — increasing bloat.

Occasional headaches: Headaches during pregnancy can be caused by just about anything — hormones, fatigue, stress. To lessen your pain, place a cool compress on your forehead or on the back of your neck and sit in a dark, quiet room.

Occasional faintness or dizziness: If you can’t find a place to lie down or sit when you feel light-headed, kneel and bend your head forward as though you were tying your shoe. This will help prevent you from fainting and taking a spill.

Varicose veins: The good news about varicose veins? They’re unlikely to cause any harm. Plus, their presence is a good excuse to sit down and kick back with your feet up, since elevating your legs helps keep blood circulating and reduces pressure on the veins in your legs.

Lower abdominal achiness: As the muscles and ligaments that support your growing uterus stretch, you might notice some pain on the lower sides of your belly (technically called round ligament pain). This is perfectly normal — but if the pain becomes severe, let your practitioner know
